One of the questions I am asked most frequently is something about where to play--where are the softest games, where can one make the most money, which are the best rooms, etc. Note that those are not equivalent questions.
2003 WSOP Main Event champ Chris Moneymaker is absolutely dominating the World Poker Open in Tunica, Mississippi heading into Tuesday's final table.
Having made the final table of the WSOPC Las Vegas championship event the past two years, finishing fifth and fourth respectively, Bonomo got over the hump this time around, defeating a stellar final nine to book the $227,692 win and a seat in the 2009 WSOP Main Event.
Saturday I played for quite a while at the Orleans. They have a bad-beat jackpot, and it had climbed over $125,000.
In short, I sat down at the perfect time, and stood up at the perfect time. Now if only I could manage that difficult feat every time I played....
One of the questions that sometimes pops up in emails or the comments is where I play most frequently. So as I was entering some data in my spreadsheets just now, I thought I'd check the records and see.
In the spirit of the election season in the United States, thought it might be fun to vote on some outstanding (outlandish?) poker personalities and performances in 2008. Therefore, I respectfully submit the following nominations.
An idea occurred to me recently. I wanted to challenge myself to play and win in the whole row of Harrah's* properties on the Strip, all in one day. As I thought about it more, the idea evolved into a challenge that I will open up to all readers.
The tournament series will run from Dec. 1 to Dec. 10 and it marks the second year that Harrah's New Orleans has offered a year-end poker festival. Last year the Winter Bayou Challenge included 10 events and considered to be a success but Jim Hoskins, senior vice president and general manager of Harrah's New Orleans is convinced the 2008 edition will be even better.
Another BARGE - another madcap, wonderful time, punctuated by too much poker (that's me at the tables), too little sleep, too much fun, friends I see all the time, friends I see once a year, and friends made anew as happens each and every year at BARGE.For me, this BARGE had an additional challenge. It was production weekend for Poker Player Newspaper, so I had to get to bed at a reasonable hour in order to get up at 6 a.m. and edit the paper.
