Can Daniel Negreanu win his fifth World Series of Poker bracelet on Sunday?
As it stands right now, things are certainly looking good for "Kid Poker" and his quest to take down his fifth WSOP bracelet. Negreanu laid an absolute beating on the field in the $2,500 Six-Handed Limit Hold'em event on Saturday, clubbing and smashing his way to a position near the top of the leaderboard at the end of Day 2. Daniel finished the day with around 470k, meaning that he will be second in chips heading into Sunday's action. Tommi Horkko ended the day with the chip lead (approximately 500k) after staging a late rally. History would certainly seem to be on Negreanu's side heading into Sunday. Two of Daniel's four World Series of Poker bracelets have come in Limit Hold'em events. He took down the $2k Limit Hold'em event in 2004 for $169,100, and the $2k Limit Hold'em event in 2008 for $204,874. The winner of the $2,500 Six-Handed Limit Hold'em event will receive $223,688. A victory for Negreanu on Sunday would give him just over $11.5 million dollars in lifetime tournament cashes, as well as his fifth World Series of Poker bracelet. In addition to the $200k+ paycheck, Negreanu would stand to rake in a healthy chunk of change in side bets with a win on Sunday. There are currently 11 players left out of the original 367 that entered the tournament. Barry Shulman and Jimmy Tran are a few of the names that will be attempting to stop Negreanu on Sunday. Action will resume on Sunday afternoon. |
