Tom Dwan taken off of Hall of Fame List

A while back, it was reported that Tom Dwan would have the chance to be the youngest person ever inducted into the Poker Hall of Fame.  Now this news looks really outdated since the powers that be have decided to trim Dwan off of the original 10 man list of possible inductees.  What’s strange about this is that Dwan is the only person who won’t be making the cut as far as who moves on to the actual vote.

And even more weird is that there is no known criteria available that could keep Dwan off of the list besides PHOF officials (or whoever else) just deciding that they don’t want Dwan on it.  After all, it definitely appears as if he was singled out in this whole process by the older people who are involved with poker.

And I guess it doesn’t really matter so much in the end since Dwan had slim chances of making the Poker Hall of Fame at the age of 23, but it still would have been nice to at least see him get the chance to be on the ballot.  However, it could also be a good thing in disguise for Dwan because he probably would have received the least votes out of anybody since he hasn’t been around the game long enough and doesn’t have any impressive live tourney credentials to his name.

But despite the fact that Dwan won’t be appearing on this year’s vote, I really think he’ll be in the Hall of Fame some day anyways so he just needs to wait his turn.  I suppose Phil Ivey (37) or Daniel Negreanu (35) will now have the honor of being the youngest person inducted now.
